Rubbing alcohol is chemical compound, a liquid that commonly is used as a disinfectant or for adhesive removal.

However, this ingredient has many other uses that many people don’t know about. Alcohol can be used in cosmetics!

Get rid of bed bugs

Once the bed bugs appear, it is really big problem to get rid of them. Our advice is to fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray all over your mattress and pillows. It is important to mention that bed bugs always lay eggs, thus you should repeat this procedure several times to get rid of them entirely.

Deodorant replacement

This is a hack that all of you can use. If you forget to apply deodorant, you can rub some alcohol under your armpits. On that way you will kill the nasty bad-odor causing bacteria. Still, be aware that long exposure may lead to skin irritation.

Homemade cool pack

When you place alcohol in the freezer, you will not get ice, but rather to a cold, thick mass. You can use this characteristic and your own cooling pad. In a sealable plastic bag pour 1 part alcohol and 2 parts water. After that remove as much air as possible and place it in the freezer. After 1 hour the mixture should get the right texture. This is useful as an ice pack for an injury or also you can cool your lunch on a hike.

Kill lice

Add few drops of lavender oil in alcohol and apply the mixture to your hair, thus you will comb the lice away. After you finish that, leave the combs in the mixture for at least 1 hour.

Clean your ears

Experts explain that the cotton swabs bury the wax deeper and deeper into your ear canal. However you can remove ear wax on its own with mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Simply dip a cotton swab in the mixture and leave the mixture drop into your ears.

Remove fingernail polish

Most of the nail polish removers that you can find on the market contain harsh chemical acetone, which damages the nails. Some people even start feeling nauseous from the fumes. Pure rubbing alcohol is great replacement. You should be aware that it will take a little longer to completely remove your polish, but your nails certainly won’t be damaged.

No more ingrown hairs

Ingrown hairs are annoying cosmetics issue. After shaving the bikini line or armpits, the area becomes covered in red dots. You can change that by applying a bit of rubbing alcohol to your skin. The alcohol will alleviate irritation and will make your skin looking smooth again.

Clear your skin

Many acne-fighting creams and ointments contain benzoyl peroxide as ingredient, but rubbing alcohol is much better solution that is effective. Due to its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, the alcohol will disinfect the existing pimples, but in same time will sooth the surrounding skin and help prevent additional ones from popping up. You should only apply it directly to the pimple, as extended use may cause certain skin irritation.

Cold sores

Studies have shown that about 85% of people carry the herpes virus, but only some get to experience a breakout. In case if you do experience herpes, simply apply 70% isopropyl alcohol on it and it will go away super fast!

Hand sanitizer

You can use rubbing alcohol to prepare great homemade hand sanitizer. In a sealable bottle mix 4 oz. aloe vera gel, ½ tablespoon of isopropyl alcohol and a few drops of teatree oil.
