Sargento Foods Inc. made big recall of seven cheeses due to potential contamination from listeria monocytogenes. Well, open your fridge and check if you have some of the cheeses.
Listeria is infection caused by bacteria and annually about 1,600 people are being infected with this type of infection. Unfortunately, around 260 patients die. Certain groups of people are at significantly higher risk of this infection and there are included: pregnant women, adults aged 65 or above, people who have weakened immune systems and newborns.
The cheeses that were recalled were:
-Sargento Off the Block Shredded Fine Cut Cheddar Jack Cheese;
-SargentoUltra Thin Slice Longhorn Colby;
-Sargento Off the Block Shredded Fine Cut Colby-Jack Cheese;
-Sargento Chef Blends Shredded Nacho & Taco Cheese;
-Sargento Chef Blends Shredded Taco Cheese;
-Sargento Slice Pepper jack Cheese;
-Sargento Slice Colby-Jack Cheese.
